Biography
Toba Bryant is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. Her areas of interest include health and social policy, globalization, the health of Canadians, social determinants of health, and urban health.
“A major strength of this well-researched book on health policy is its applicability and accessibility to students, academics, and health professionals in a broad range of disciplines. Bryant clearly communicates the importance of considering the social determinants of health in their influence on the population health outcomes of Canadians, and hence their relevance to health care policy and health-related public policy. We particularly appreciate that Bryant uses a health equity framing to inform public policy. This book would be an excellent resource in undergraduate and graduate health policy courses.”
—Barbara Astle & Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham, School of Nursing, Trinity Western University
“I wish I’d had this book when I first immigrated to Canada 18 years ago. The evolution of the Canadian health care system is explained clearly, and placed in the context of paradigms, policy analysis, and change. As well, up-to-date examples drawn from several countries clearly illustrate the book’s extensive conceptual material.”
—Lyn Davis, School of Public Health and Social Policy, University of Victoria

What is a Reflowable ebook?
Reflowable eTextbooks respond to the size of the device they are viewed on, much like a typical website. This causes them to look different from a traditional book. They may also contain embedded audio, video, or interactive components in addition to the RedShelf Reader’s standard study tools.
What is a Fixed Layout eBook?
A fixed layout eTextbook maintains the look and the feel of a printed textbook. The text is fixed, and the screen size determines the size of the text. These eTextbooks work best on large-screen devices and do not contain any embedded media or interactive content.
