Building on an everyday clinical practice perspective, the authors provide clear and detailed definitions of concepts and terms related to racism and health. Filled with examples of racism in the health care system and strategies to examine and contest racism, this book will become an essential resource for students and practitioners in the health sciences, the sociology of health, and a variety of other disciplines which investigate racism.

"A book of this kind is long overdue in the Canadian market because it challenges a widely accepted way of addressing the issues of cultural diversity. The book is clearly written, lucid, and articulate. What I particularly appreciate is that the book names racism and other social hierarchies as the focus of change. There is no existing text for health professionals that tackles this very important topic in this way. I will be first in line to use it."
Diana L. Gustafson, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University
"The authors are well grounded in their theoretical and concept knowledge and understanding of anti-racism. Perhaps the most salient mesage that is imparted in this book stresses the existence of racism in the health care system - how racism is manifested and how it impacts the health and well-being of its victims. This relates to a more global theme developed in the final chapter: racism as a stand-alone determinant of health."
David Este, Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary

What is a Reflowable ebook?
Reflowable eTextbooks respond to the size of the device they are viewed on, much like a typical website. This causes them to look different from a traditional book. They may also contain embedded audio, video, or interactive components in addition to the RedShelf Reader’s standard study tools.
What is a Fixed Layout eBook?
A fixed layout eTextbook maintains the look and the feel of a printed textbook. The text is fixed, and the screen size determines the size of the text. These eTextbooks work best on large-screen devices and do not contain any embedded media or interactive content.
