We are currently seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our Development and Production team as Editorial Assistant. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks to assist with the publication of our books.

 

This is a full-time permanent position. The position is hybrid and requires working from our downtown Toronto office two days per week.

 

The Editorial Assistant is responsible for:

 
  • Supporting publishing staff in all activities leading to publication
  • Assisting with the preparation of manuscripts for production
  • Assisting with image research for covers
  • Checking proofs and editing indexes
  • Writing and proofreading back cover copy
  • Assisting in the creation and editing of supplementary teaching materials
  • Mailing and distributing books to authors and reviewers
  • Performing EPUB quality control checks
  • Handling reprint corrections
  • Performing administrative support where needed
 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • University degree
  • Enrollment or recent experience in a book publishing program is required. Experience working or interning in book publishing is preferred.
  • Copyediting and research skills are required.
  • Comfortability with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
 

Compensation includes a competitive salary, benefits, professional development and health and wellness allowances, as well as a group RSP plan. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
