Canadian Scholars/Women’s Press is one of Canada’s leading independent publishers of books for the higher education market. We create high-quality books and teaching/learning resources that make a genuine and lasting contribution to a wide variety of disciplines, including gender and sexuality, Indigenous studies, health, education, and business studies. Our sales team is growing! We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong communication and organizational skills, and an affinity for sales to join our dynamic sales team, assuming the position of Publisher’s Representative. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires working from our downtown Toronto office two days per week, and three days remotely.

 

Responsibilities include:

 
  • Promoting and selling books to the academic community through direct contact by telephone, in person, email campaigns, and through use of marketing materials
  • Nurturing relationships with instructors, schools, bookstores, and key stakeholders in your territory
  • Seeking out high quality leads within a designated territory through market research
  • Maintaining proactive customer service with instructors
  • Representing Canadian Scholars at conferences, tradeshows, book launches and other events
  • Updating and maintaining Canadian Scholars’ extensive CRM database on a regular and ongoing basis.
 

Qualifications:

 
  • An undergraduate degree
  • Certificate from a post-graduate book publishing program would be an asset
  • Sales and marketing experience would be an asset
  • 1-2 years’ experience in academic book publishing would be an asset
  • Competency in French would be an asset
